Market research firm Canalys released a report today stating that the foldable smartphone market will undergo a critical period of technological innovation and product iteration in 2025. Manufacturers are successfully addressing the long-standing issues of bulk and weight, propelling foldable phones into a new phase of development through breakthrough engineering technologies. Global foldable phone shipments remained stable at approximately 6.6 million units in the first half of 2025, but showed significant regional variations. China, with a 32.8% year-on-year growth, was the biggest global highlight, primarily driven by the Huawei Mate and Pura X series. Canalys predicts that global foldable phone shipments will remain around 15.2 million units in 2025, but will experience explosive growth in 2026, with a projected 51% year-on-year surge in shipments.
