BlackRock executive Rick Rieder is reportedly rapidly emerging as a leading candidate to succeed Jerome Powell as the next Federal Reserve chairman. Powell's term expires in May of next year. According to sources, U.S. Treasury Secretary Benson & Melson met with Rieder for two hours in New York on Friday. The discussion covered monetary policy, the Fed's organizational structure, and regulatory policies. Benson & Melson has interviewed four of the 11 publicly listed candidates for Fed chairmanship and emphasized that the selection process remains ongoing.
