[Economist: US tariff policy will continue to affect US economic growth] In an interview with Germany's Handelsblatt on the 13th, Morgan Stanley chief economist Seth Carpenter said that US economic growth is slowing significantly, and one of the important factors is the US tariff policy. The consequences of this policy will continue to appear in the coming months. Carpenter believes that the US economy is currently facing sustained low growth, and he expects the US economy to show weak growth in the fourth quarter of this year and the first quarter of next year. The US economy may only grow by around 1.25% in 2026, far lower than 2.8% in 2024. In addition, he pointed out that the current performance of the US labor market is significantly weaker than a few months ago. New data shows that between March 2024 and March 2025, the number of new jobs created was only half of the initial expectation. In addition, US industrial production has also begun to show signs of weakness. (CCTV)
