On September 13, Israeli airstrikes targeted a school in Gaza City run by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine (UNRWA) for displaced persons. Fida Zanin, a displaced person sheltering at the school, said the attack occurred minutes after she received the alert, destroying nearly all of her and her children's belongings. Following Israeli attacks on Gaza City and other areas, a large number of displaced persons fled to the southern Gaza Strip. Some Gazans expressed their hope that Palestinians would be treated as human beings, pointing out that animals are protected by law in European countries, while children in Gaza are dying from starvation and airstrikes.
