[House prices in the UK have fallen in the past month, and rent increases are the smallest in four years] Two industry surveys released on Monday showed that the asking prices of houses for sale in the UK this month fell year-on-year for the first time since January 2024, while the annual increase in average rents was the smallest in four years. Rightmove's September survey showed that asking prices for properties for sale fell 0.1% from the same period last year. The survey was conducted from August 10 to September 6. Although asking prices rose 0.4% from the previous month, the increase was smaller than the normal level for the same period last year, and it had fallen for three consecutive months before. Another survey from Zoopla showed that in the four weeks ending September 2, average rents rose 2.4% from the same period last year, the smallest increase in four years. The average monthly rent is currently 1,300 pounds (about 1,761 US dollars).
