[Major French farmers' union calls for nationwide demonstrations on September 25th] France's Le Journal du Dimanche quoted Arnaud Russo, president of the French National Federation of Agricultural Producers (FNSEA), as saying that the union has called on its members to hold nationwide demonstrations on September 25th. The FNSEA aims to protest the economic agreement between the EU and Mercosur, US tariffs, and the importation of goods that do not meet the standards desired by French farmers. "It's like the ban on Ukrainian eggs: all these are products we don't want on our tables because they are harmful to our health and the environment," Russo told the newspaper. The FNSEA said that as part of the protests, farmers may go to large stores on September 25th to "look for substandard products."
