[Citi: Dining plans indicate easing financial pressure on Australian households] Citi analysts believe that the investment bank's latest survey of Australian shoppers provides more evidence that household financial pressures are easing. The analysts pointed out that the August survey showed that the proportion of shoppers who planned to increase their spending on home meal preparation had decreased. The survey also showed that the number of shoppers who expected to spend less on takeaway food had also decreased. The analysts told clients in a report that given that dining at home usually increases when consumers are under pressure, this survey result is consistent with the view that household conditions are improving.
