The General Administration of Customs stated: In 2024, facing the complex and volatile global political and economic landscape, China and ASEAN continued to promote the building of a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future, deepened their comprehensive strategic partnership, and advanced regional cooperation to a higher level. Bilateral trade reached a new high. China has maintained its position as ASEAN's largest trading partner for 16 consecutive years, while ASEAN has been China's largest trading partner for five consecutive years. Bilateral trade cooperation has demonstrated strong resilience and enormous potential. Since the official launch of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area in 2010, the China-ASEAN Trade Index has steadily grown, reaching a record high of 167.87 in 2024, an increase of 2.93 percentage points from 2023 (the same below).
