(2) A net increase of $14.8 billion in debt securities drove the overall increase, with money market instruments accounting for $11.1 billion as the Bank of Canada held its key interest rate unchanged. (3) Net bond holdings increased by $3.7 billion, while holdings of Canadian corporate equities rose by $11.8 billion during the same period. (4) The increase in foreign holdings coincided with the Toronto benchmark index reaching a record high that month. (5) Canadian investors increased their holdings of foreign financial assets by $17.4 billion during the same period.
