[The Security Council adopted a resolution establishing a follow-up mechanism for missing Kuwaiti persons] On September 17, local time, the UN Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution 2792 on the follow-up mechanism for missing Kuwaiti persons from Iraq and Kuwait following the Gulf War. The resolution requested UN Secretary-General Guterres to appoint a high-level representative to focus on promoting, supporting, and coordinating all efforts related to the "repatriation or return of all Kuwaiti and third-country nationals or their remains, and the return of Kuwaiti property, including national archives."
