[Survey: More than 24,000 people died from heatstroke in Europe this summer] A survey by Imperial College London showed that more than 24,000 people will die from heatstroke in Europe in the summer of 2025, of which 16,500 will die from man-made climate change. The survey showed that the country with the highest number of deaths caused by global warming is Italy, with 4,600 people. Spain ranked second with 2,800 people, and Germany ranked third with 1,500 people. It was followed by France (1,400), the United Kingdom (1,100), Romania (1,000), Greece (808), Bulgaria (552) and Croatia (268). The survey said that people over 65 are more susceptible to the negative effects of high temperatures, accounting for 85% of deaths caused by global warming. Extreme heat is causing the deaths of more and more elderly people in Europe. The survey pointed out that the actual number of deaths may be higher because the 854 cities surveyed only account for 30% of the total population of Europe.
