IDC: Global open-back headphones will account for over 10% of the market in the first half of 2025, with ear clip-on models leading the growth. According to IDC's "Global Quarterly Wearable Device Tracking Report," global earwear shipments reached 170 million units in the first half of 2025, an 11.8% year-on-year increase. Open-back models accounted for 10.1% of the market, a 61.1% year-on-year increase. These models are leading the global market growth with their novel design and emerging conduction technologies. Open-back models primarily include neckband, ear clip, and earhook styles. Ear clip-on models, with their sleek design and unique wearing style, stand out, accounting for 41.6% of shipments in the first half of 2025, an 89.3% year-on-year increase, making them the fastest-growing category among open-back models. Earhook models, which had an earlier launch than ear clips, have attracted widespread attention for their comfort and stability, with shipments increasing by 78.9% year-on-year. Neckband models, primarily based on bone conduction technology, are more suited to sports and are the first to develop in the open-back market. They are relatively mature and have a more stable structure, with shipments increasing by 6.0% year-on-year.
