Cui Dongshu: Domestic Commercial Vehicle Compulsory Traffic Insurance Data Shows Strong Growth for Commercial Vehicles in 2025. Cui Dongshu, Secretary-General of the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), stated in a statement that domestic commercial vehicle compulsory traffic insurance data shows strong growth for commercial vehicles in 2025. Driven by strong growth in new energy vehicles and policies promoting vehicle replacement, domestic commercial vehicle sales reached 246,000 units in August, a year-on-year increase of 14% and a month-on-month decrease of 1%. From January to August 2025, domestic commercial vehicle sales reached 2.01 million units, an 8% year-on-year increase. Compared to the period of stability since 2022, this year marks a new high in recent years. In 2024, new energy commercial vehicle sales reached 579,000 units, an 84% year-on-year increase; in August 2025, they reached 73,600 units, a 46% year-on-year increase and a 3% month-on-month increase. Following the policy tailwind at the end of 2024, new energy vehicle sales were relatively weak in January 2025, but surged year-on-year from February to August, reaching 500,000 units in the period, a 55% year-on-year increase.
