Eurozone current account surplus narrowed to €27.7 billion in July. (1) European Central Bank data showed that the eurozone's seasonally adjusted current account surplus fell to €27.7 billion in July from €35.8 billion in June. (2) Unadjusted data showed the surplus fell to €35.0 billion in July from €38.9 billion in June. (3) This change was primarily driven by a decline in the surplus in services trade and a decrease in primary income, which typically includes cross-border flows of profits, wages, interest, and dividends. (4) In the 12 months ending in July, the eurozone's current account surplus accounted for 2% of GDP, down from 2.6% in the previous 12 months.
