Georgia's Economic Growth Slowed in the Second Quarter. (1) Preliminary data released Thursday by the Georgian National Statistics Service indicated a slowdown in the country's economic growth in the second quarter. (2) In the second quarter, GDP grew by 7.3% year-on-year, down from 9.8% in the first quarter. (3) By sector, the information and communications sector grew by 37.1%, contributing the most to overall growth; the education sector grew by 28.9%, and the arts, entertainment, and leisure sector grew by 16.0%. (4) In contrast, agriculture, forestry, and fisheries recorded a 2.5% contraction, while the value added of public utilities decreased by 7.0%.
