[De Guindos says the ECB should maintain a cautious stance] ⑴ ECB Vice President De Guindos said on Thursday that given the current high political and economic uncertainty, the central bank should avoid taking risks when formulating interest rate policy. ⑵ He pointed out at an online conference hosted by MNI that investors' relaxed attitude towards risk has led to "very high" stock market valuations, so the possibility of potential "surprises" cannot be ignored. ⑶ Last week, the ECB maintained its key interest rate at 2% for the second consecutive meeting, when inflation had already fallen back to the target level of 2%. ⑷ De Guindos emphasized: "We should take a very cautious approach."
