Poland's August Industrial Output Surpassed Expectations but Slowed Significantly. (1) Polish statistics show that industrial output grew 0.7% year-on-year in August, exceeding market expectations of 0.3% but significantly lower than the revised 3.0% figure from the previous month. (2) Manufacturing growth slowed to 1.1%, while growth in water supply, sewage treatment, and waste management and remediation services fell to 1.5%. Electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply continued to decline, falling 6.7% year-on-year, compared to a 3.1% decline previously reported. (3) The decline in mining and quarrying narrowed to 2.1%, compared to a 5.9% drop in the previous month. Month-on-month, industrial output plummeted 7.1% in August, reversing the revised 0.4% growth previously reported.
