Typhoon "Mina" Forms, Schools Suspended Across Guangdong Province (⑴ According to China Weather News, Typhoon "Mina," the 17th typhoon of the year, formed today. At 2:00 PM, the typhoon's center was located approximately 435 kilometers southeast of Shanwei City, Guangdong Province (19.9 degrees north latitude, 118.2 degrees east longitude), with maximum winds near the center reaching Force 8 (18 meters per second). It is expected to move northwest at 15 to 20 kilometers per hour, gradually increasing in intensity. (⑵) Due to the typhoon's impact, the Huiyang District Education Bureau of Huizhou City, Guangdong Province, announced that all kindergartens, primary and secondary schools in the district will be closed on September 19th. (⑶) The Huidong County Education Bureau announced that a yellow typhoon warning will be issued tonight and tomorrow morning. Schools (including high schools), kindergartens, and after-school tutoring institutions in the county will be closed on September 19th. The resumption date will be announced separately by the meteorological authorities. (⑷) The Education, Culture, Health and Hygiene Bureau of the Daya Bay Development Zone Management Committee announced that all primary and secondary schools, kindergartens, and after-school tutoring institutions in the district will be closed on September 19th.
