Italy's current account surplus hit a new high since 2020 in July. (1) Italy's current account surplus reached €8.7 billion in July, up from €5.9 billion in the same period last year, marking the largest surplus since October 2020. (2) The goods account surplus widened to €7.5 billion (compared to €6.4 billion in the same period last year), and the services account surplus increased to €2.1 billion (compared to €1.9 billion in the same period last year). (3) Primary income swung from a deficit of €1.3 billion in the same period last year to a surplus of €900 million, while the secondary income deficit widened to €1.8 billion (compared to €1.1 billion in the same period last year).
