Bulgaria's current account surplus narrowed significantly in July. (1) Bulgaria's current account surplus fell to €43.1 million in July, a significant decrease from €432.6 million in the same period last year. (2) This was primarily due to a sharp increase in the goods account deficit, which reached €652.2 million, compared to €120.4 million in the same period last year. (3) Meanwhile, the primary income deficit narrowed to €410.3 million (from €454.2 million in the same period last year), while the secondary income surplus rose to €148.4 million (from €92.5 million in the same period last year). (4) The services account surplus also increased to €957.1 million, up from €914.7 million in the same period last year.
