Shanghai: Accelerating the Development of Industries Such as Silicon Photonics, 6G, Fourth-Generation Semiconductors, and Brain-Inspired Intelligence. On October 11th, the Shanghai municipal government held a press conference to introduce the newly released "Several Measures to Accelerate Frontier Technological Innovation and Cultivate Future Industries." Qu Wei, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission, revealed at the press conference that Shanghai will implement rational planning, layered advancement, and targeted cultivation in six key areas: future manufacturing, future information, future materials, future energy, future space, and future health. These measures will be divided into three levels: near-term, mid-term, and long-term. Specifically, these measures include: developing and strengthening areas such as cell and gene therapy, brain-computer interfaces, biomanufacturing, and embodied intelligence, with a focus on reducing costs, improving accessibility, and building an industrial ecosystem; accelerating the development of areas such as silicon photonics, 6G, fourth-generation semiconductors, and brain-inspired intelligence, with a focus on optimizing product design, expanding application scenarios, and verifying market value; and accelerating the development of cutting-edge fields such as quantum technology, controlled nuclear fusion, and regenerative medicine, with a focus on tackling technical challenges, converging technology routes, and verifying product feasibility.
