Due to the influence of a strong cold front and Typhoon Fengshen, the 24th typhoon of the year, the National Marine Forecasting Center continued to issue an Orange Sea Wave Alert and a Yellow Storm Surge Alert this afternoon (October 21st), in accordance with the Marine Disaster Emergency Plan. From the afternoon of October 21st to the afternoon of October 22nd, huge and turbulent waves of 5 to 7 meters are expected in the southern East China Sea, the Taiwan Strait, and the northern and central South China Sea. The sea wave warning level for these offshore waters has been designated Yellow. The coastal waters of Fujian and eastern Hainan are expected to experience large and turbulent waves of 3.5 to 5.5 meters, with an Orange sea wave warning level. The coastal waters of Shanghai, Zhejiang, Guangdong, and western Hainan are expected to experience large and turbulent waves of 2.5 to 4 meters, with a Yellow sea wave warning level. Vessels operating in the above-mentioned waters are advised to exercise caution, and relevant coastal units are advised to take preemptive measures to prevent and avoid waves. Regarding storm surges, a surge of 60 to 120 centimeters is expected from the afternoon of October 21st to the afternoon of the 22nd along the coast from Shanghai to Zhangzhou, Fujian; 40 to 120 centimeters along the coast from Chaozhou, Guangdong to the eastern coast of the Leizhou Peninsula; and 30 to 50 centimeters along the eastern coast of Hainan Island. The storm surge warning level for Ningbo, Zhejiang Province; Fuzhou and Zhangzhou, Fujian Province; Chaozhou and Maoming, Guangdong Province has been set at yellow. Coastal governments and relevant departments are urged to fulfill their responsibilities and make emergency preparations for storm surges. They are urged to organize all vessels to return to port for shelter, and to implement maintenance and reinforcement measures for aquaculture facilities and fish cages. Inspections of coastal seawalls, sluices, and other facilities should be strengthened, and seawalls in vulnerable and vulnerable areas should be promptly reinforced and de-risked. (CCTV News)
