"I don't see where that's going," the House Republican leader said. "I think the president is aware of that, and he and I have discussed the constitutional limits." Although the 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution explicitly prohibits anyone from serving more than two terms as president, Trump has repeatedly hinted that he might seek a third term. Johnson said he "doesn't see" a chance of passing a new amendment to remove that limit, and believes it would take "a decade" for a constitutional amendment to gain two-thirds majority support in both the House and Senate and be ratified by three-quarters of the states.
