Ukraine Needs Financing to Purchase 4 Billion Cubic Meters of Natural Gas for Wintering: Sergei Koretsky, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ukrainian National Oil and Gas Company (NOGZ), announced on the 28th that Ukraine will need to import over 4 billion cubic meters of additional natural gas to ensure a smooth transition through this autumn and winter heating season. Speaking at a press conference in Kyiv, Koretsky announced that Russian airstrikes on Ukrainian natural gas facilities, the seventh since October, had damaged gas facilities in Poltava Oblast. Koretsky stated that due to the damage and reduced production at these facilities, Ukraine will need to import over 4 billion cubic meters of additional natural gas this autumn and winter, requiring an additional $1.9 billion in financing. With support from the Ukrainian government, NOGZ has already secured most of the funds. According to the Ukrainian National News Agency on the 24th, Prime Minister Svirizenko, during questioning at the Verkhovna Rada (parliament), stated that Ukraine had achieved its goal of storing 13.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas for wintering before this year's autumn and winter heating season.
