[US Government's 50% Tariff on Brazil "Symbolically" Rejected by Senate] On October 28th local time, it was learned that the US Senate passed a bill blocking the Trump administration's tariffs on Brazil. The bill passed with 52 votes in favor and 48 against. Five Republican senators voted in favor. It is understood that this bill would terminate the national emergency currently used by the Trump administration to impose a 50% tariff on Brazilian goods. The bill still needs to be voted on in the House of Representatives. However, some US media reports indicate that the Senate vote was largely symbolic, as House Republican leaders have blocked the House from voting on overturning the tariffs before March of next year.
