WHO: "While some governments have slowed their climate commitments, the report shows that cities, communities and the health sector are leading the way. Almost all reporting cities (834 out of 858 cities) have completed or plan to complete climate risk assessments. Energy transitions are delivering cleaner air, healthier jobs, measurable economic growth and inward investment." The health sector itself has demonstrated impressive climate leadership, with global health-related greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions falling by 16% between 2021 and 2022, while also improving the quality of healthcare. Data submitted by WHO shows that more and more health systems are assessing risks and preparing for a dangerous future. 58% of Member States have completed health vulnerability and adaptation assessments, and 60% have completed national health adaptation plans.
