[Norway Retail Sales Decline in September] ⑴ Norway's retail sales in September 2025 fell 0.5% year-on-year, a decline from the previously revised 0.1% increase, marking the first decline since June 2024. ⑵ Major drags included a faster decline in motor fuel sales, falling 3.4%, compared to a 0.9% decline in August. ⑶ Sales of cultural and recreational goods fell 2.3%, compared to a 2.6% increase previously; sales of other household equipment fell 0.8%, compared to a 1.8% increase previously. ⑷ Sales of other goods fell 0.8%, compared to a 1.4% increase previously; the growth rate of non-store/stall retail sales slowed to 1.6%, compared to 2% previously. ⑸ On the other hand, food and beverage sales rebounded to a 0.9% increase, compared to a 0.1% decrease previously. ⑹ The decline in non-specialty store sales narrowed to 0.3%, compared to a 1.7% decrease previously; the decline in information and communication technology equipment sales narrowed to 1.1%, compared to a 2.3% decrease previously. (7) On an annualized basis, the growth rate of retail sales activity slowed to 3.7% in September from 5% in August.
