On October 29 local time, the Polish Armed Forces Operational Command stated that on October 28, two Polish Air Force MiG-29 fighter jets successfully intercepted a Russian military aircraft flying over the Baltic Sea and escorted it outside the area of responsibility after visual identification. The Polish military stated that the Russian Il-20 aircraft, which was on a reconnaissance mission, did not submit a flight plan and had its transponder turned off, but did not violate Polish airspace and was in international airspace at the time.
