[UK gilt yields decline ahead of Fed decision] ⑴ UK gilt yields fell ahead of the US Federal Reserve's interest rate decision, with the market anticipating a 99.9% probability of a 25 basis point rate cut. ⑵ If the rate cut occurs as expected, the federal funds target range will fall to 3.75%-4.0%. ⑶ Analysts pointed out that although the US government shutdown has resulted in a lack of key recent economic data, there is still ample evidence to support another 25 basis point rate cut. ⑷ The 10-year UK gilt yield fell 1 basis point, ultimately trading at 4.387%.
