Barclays Bank reportedly plans its first-ever Panda bond issuance in China, aiming to raise up to 4 billion yuan (approximately US$560 million). This marks another major global bank's foray into the world's second-largest debt market. Sources familiar with the matter revealed that the transaction will be offered in 3-year and 5-year tranches, with pricing expected next Monday. The sources added that the funds raised will likely be remitted out of China to support the London-based bank's financing needs and its RMB-related business, such as meeting increasing customer demand for RMB-denominated assets and providing liquidity to offshore capital markets.
