[Greece's PPI Narrows Negation but Continues to Fall for Nine Consecutive Months; 4.1% Energy Price Drop Fails to Ward Off Deflation] ⑴ The Hellenic Statistical Authority announced on Thursday that the Producer Price Index (PPI) fell 1.1% year-on-year in September, marking the ninth consecutive month of negative growth, but recovering slightly from August's -1.7%. ⑵ On a month-on-month basis, the PPI rose slightly by 0.2% in September, reversing the decline of -0.6% in August. ⑶ Among the sub-indices, energy prices plummeted by 1.9% year-on-year, becoming the biggest drag on the overall index; while durable consumer goods prices rose 4.1% year-on-year, the only bright spot. ⑷ The rolling 12-month average shows that the PPI will cumulatively decline by 0.1% from October 2024 to September 2025, indicating that deflationary pressures at the Greek industrial level continue.
