[France's Q3 GDP Growth Outpaces Germany and Italy; Political Storm Fails to Stop Soaring Aerospace Exports] ⑴ France's National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE) announced on Thursday that third-quarter GDP grew by 0.5% quarter-on-quarter, double the 0.3% growth in the second quarter, easily beating the highest estimate of 0.3% from 26 institutions. ⑵ Exports surged 2.2%, becoming the biggest engine of growth, with a surge in aerospace shipments. Combined with a 0.4% decline in imports, foreign trade alone contributed 0.9 percentage points, completely offsetting the 0.6 percentage point drag from inventory reduction. ⑶ Business investment expanded by 0.9% against the trend, offsetting the weak 0.1% growth in consumption. Officials stated that companies rushed to ship goods before the new round of Trump's tariff rhetoric took effect. ⑷ Finance Minister Le Suet urged parliament to quickly pass the budget, warning that billions of euros in additional taxes if the amendments were implemented would erode business confidence. ⑸ A senior economist at ING pointed out that business and consumer confidence rebounded simultaneously in October, and the impact of political budget uncertainty on growth may be less than expected and may be delayed.
