[EU Seeks Assurance from US: Will Not Block AT1 Write-down in Bank Failure] Europe's top official responsible for handling bank failures is seeking assurances from the United States that it will not prevent other regulators from forcing bondholders to accept losses in the event of a major bank failure. Dominique Laboureix, head of the European Single Settlement Board (SRB), has convened a panel at the Financial Stability Board (FSB) that is handling the matter "seriously" and has received "some positive signals" from the new leadership of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
