[Hassan Wins Tanzanian Presidential Election] On November 1st, local time, the Tanzanian National Electoral Commission announced that Samia Suluhu Hassan, the incumbent president and candidate of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCP), won the presidential election. Tanzania held its general election on October 29th, electing the president, members of the National Assembly, and local councilors. This was Tanzania's seventh general election since adopting a multi-party system in 1992. According to the National Electoral Commission, over 37 million eligible voters registered for the election, and approximately 99,000 polling stations were set up. The Tanzanian president is directly elected by the people for a five-year term.
