[Czech Manufacturing Sector Contracts Intensify] ⑴ The Czech Republic's manufacturing PMI fell to 47.2 in October, a further decline from 49.2 in September, marking the fourth consecutive month in contraction territory and the worst contraction since January. ⑵ Output and new orders remained weak, and employment contracted, with the decline in employment at its fastest pace in seven months. ⑶ Since mid-2022, the Czech manufacturing sector has been in contraction, with only a brief rebound in June this year. ⑷ Reduced new orders led to a decline in factory output, particularly evident in weak demand in export markets. ⑸ Companies implemented cost-cutting measures, including layoffs. ⑹ Compared to previous surveys, businesses' optimism about the demand outlook has decreased, and uncertainty has increased significantly.
