[Hongqiao Forum Focuses on Sustainable Agricultural Development in the Global South for the First Time] On November 6, 2025, the 8th Hongqiao International Economic Forum's sub-forum on "Sustainable Agricultural Development in the Global South," hosted by the Ministry of Commerce and organized by the Agricultural and Rural Program Center of China Media Group and the College of Modern Agriculture of Peking University, was successfully held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. More than 20 guests from around the world and over 300 representatives from domestic agricultural institutions and enterprises participated in the exchange. This is also the first time that the Hongqiao International Economic Forum has included "Sustainable Agricultural Development in the Global South" as an important topic of discussion. In his keynote speech, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry and Stanford University Professor Michael Levitt stated that biodiversity and scientific innovation are crucial to agriculture, and that artificial intelligence will be a key force reshaping agricultural science. He pointed out that China's innovation in pursuit of efficiency under the pressure of limited land resources, and its exploration in precision agriculture and bio-fertilizers, have provided valuable experience for the world.
