[UN Secretary-General Welcomes Lebanon-Israel Ceasefire] UN Secretary-General António Guterres, through his spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric, issued a statement on March 16 welcoming the 10-day ceasefire announced between Israel and Lebanon. The statement said that Guterres reiterated the UN's support for all efforts aimed at ending hostilities and alleviating the suffering of people on both sides of the Lebanon-Israel border. Guterres hopes that this ceasefire will create conditions for negotiations and the full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, thereby finding a long-term solution to the Lebanon-Israel conflict. He urged all parties to fully comply with the ceasefire and fulfill their respective obligations under international law.
