[Ministry of Water Resources Latest Arrangements and Deployments for Potential Floods in Some Small and Medium-Sized Rivers in Northwest China] According to forecasts, from July 14th to 17th, influenced by both cold and warm air masses, eastern Northwest China will experience a significant rainfall event. This round of rainfall is expected to be intense, posing a high risk of flooding for reservoirs and silt-retaining dams, as well as for small and medium-sized river floods and flash floods. The Ministry of Water Resources has made targeted arrangements and deployments for flood prevention in Northwest China, comprehensively assessing the situation of small and medium-sized reservoirs and those with safety risks in the heavy rainfall areas. It has tightened and implemented the "three responsible persons" and "three key links" for flood prevention in small reservoirs, implementing measures to prevent dam overflow and collapse, and ensuring that all reservoirs with safety risks are kept empty in principle to resolutely prevent dam collapse. The Ministry also emphasizes the need to implement flood prevention responsibilities for silt-retaining dams and to prepare for flood prevention in small and medium-sized rivers. (CCTV)
