At the Huawei Connect conference in 2026, Huawei's Rotating Chairman Wang Tao revealed that Huawei's Ascend 960 supernode will be the industry's first supernode product equipped with an NPO optical engine. This series includes two products with different cooling solutions: the Atlas 960 liquid-cooled supernode is expected to be officially launched in the third quarter of 2027, while the Atlas 860 air-cooled supernode will be launched a quarter earlier, in the second quarter of 2027. These supernode products, employing advanced optical engine technology, are expected to further improve the interconnection efficiency of AI computing clusters in the future, providing stronger computing power support for scenarios such as large model training and high-performance computing.
