The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) announced on September 16th that it will initiate patent infringement investigations into certain electronic devices incorporating specific audio-related technologies. The entities included in the investigation are Samsung Electronics and its U.S. subsidiaries, Apple Inc., and Google Inc. It should be noted that initiating this investigation does not equate to a finding of patent infringement. A judge will hold hearings and issue a preliminary determination, which will then be subject to review by the ITC before a final decision is issued.
