[Japan Temporarily Shuts Down Nuclear Power Plant Reactor Due to Leak] Kansai Electric Power Company announced that it temporarily shut down the No. 3 reactor at the Mihama Nuclear Power Plant in Fukui Prefecture early this morning (September 18) due to a "possible water leak in the pipeline." Reportedly, around 3:45 PM local time on September 17 (2:45 PM Beijing time), workers discovered water dripping around the vent valve of the pipeline during an inspection of the No. 3 reactor. Kansai Electric Power Company stated that it assessed the situation as "not immediately affecting the unit's operation," but still manually shut down the reactor around 4:00 AM local time (3:00 AM Beijing time) today. The time for resuming operation has not yet been determined.
