Wall Street is awaiting the largest adjustment to U.S. Treasury issuance guidance in years, with many market participants expecting the Treasury Department to revise its issuance guidelines in its latest quarterly policy statement. Some predict the Treasury will announce a reduction in the issuance size of 20-year and 30-year long-term bonds; others believe the Treasury will maintain its current issuance guidance, keeping the auction size of each tranche of Treasury bonds unchanged. Furthermore, the Treasury's quarterly refinancing statement may also announce updated guidance on Treasury bond repurchase agreements. Currently, most market investors expect officials to maintain the existing repurchase program: a monthly repurchase quota of $6 billion for each 10-year to 30-year Treasury bond tranche.
