[Ireland's Manufacturing Growth Remains Strong] In October 2026, the AIB Ireland Manufacturing PMI slightly decreased to 55.2 from 55.5 in September, but still continues to show a robust improvement in overall business conditions. Output rose steadily, although the pace slowed from the four-and-a-half-year high reached in September. New orders also increased significantly, with export orders growing for the ninth consecutive month. Backlogs rose only slightly, the lowest pace since July. Manufacturers continued to expand employment, with job creation rising to a three-month high. Purchasing activity grew at its fastest pace since May, partly reflecting efforts by businesses to build safety stocks, with pre-production stocks recording their largest increase since January 2023. Meanwhile, input cost inflation accelerated to a four-month high, driven by rising energy, fuel, and raw material prices. Output charges also rose at their fastest pace since June. Finally, business confidence in the coming year further strengthened.
