[UK AI Minister Warns of Potential Serious Cyberattack in the Near Future] UK AI Minister Kanishka Narayan stated that a serious cyberattack is "highly likely" to occur in the UK in the near future. Narayan said on Tuesday that neither UK government agencies nor private companies are adequately prepared for potential cyberattacks. She stated, "I am concerned about the cybersecurity risks because the threat is imminent. Both the UK public and private sectors are highly susceptible to cybersecurity vulnerabilities." With the increasing capabilities of AI models and escalating external threats, politicians across Europe are expressing concern about the rise in cyberattacks. Earlier on Tuesday, UK cybersecurity chief Richard Horne warned that UK businesses and supply chains are "deliberately turning a blind eye" to threats from Russia and Iran. On Monday, several supermarkets in Europe experienced suspected cyberattacks. Horne stated that the incidents affected several UK businesses, following a similar incident in France last month.
