[Trump says nighttime strikes against Iran were small-scale attacks, not ruling out further action after midterm elections] (1) US President Trump said that the nighttime strikes against Iran were small-scale attacks, not a restart of a full-scale conflict. (2) Trump said on Fox News: “We destroyed some targets last night. It was just a small-scale attack, not a war.” (3) He said the target was an air defense facility that Iran had been building for about two months; the US monitored the construction process and struck the facility immediately after its completion. (4) Trump did not rule out the possibility of a new round of military action against Iran after the midterm elections. (5) Trump said: “We’ll see. I don’t want to cause a lot of deaths, but if we have to, then we have to.”
