[Netherlands Inflation Rises to 3.7% in October, a 18-Month High] ⑴ Preliminary estimates show that the Netherlands' annual inflation rate rose to 3.7% in October from 3.4% in September, the highest level since April 2025. ⑵ This was partly due to accelerating energy inflation, with motor vehicle fuel inflation rising to 14.4% from 13.8%, driven by soaring global energy prices. ⑶ Industrial goods inflation, excluding energy and motor vehicle fuel, also accelerated to 1.9% from 1.5%; meanwhile, services inflation remained unchanged at 3.9%. ⑷ Food, beverage, and tobacco prices fell 0.6% year-on-year, compared to a 1.2% decline in September. ⑸ On a month-on-month basis, consumer prices are expected to rise 0.7%, compared to a 0.1% increase in September; the overseas consumption index rose 8.6%, compared to a 7.7% increase previously. ⑹ The annual inflation rate based on the HICP also rose to 3.3% in October from 3.0% in September.
