Gold and silver prices surged. US election data analysis agencies and media predict that the Democratic Party will regain control of the Senate and House of Representatives from the Republicans, thus regaining control of the US Congress. The market anticipates that a Democratic return to power will lead to stricter regulation of the AI industry and the failure of business-friendly policies such as tax breaks and banking regulation. This expectation has fueled risk aversion in the market, causing a broad decline in US stock futures, with semiconductor and AI-related stocks experiencing concentrated sell-offs. Some funds have flowed into US Treasuries as a safe haven, leading to a decline in US Treasury yields. While the US dollar weakened, some investors also bought gold to hedge against multiple risks. International gold prices rose significantly in the afternoon session of Asian trading on the 4th. As of 4:40 PM, the price of gold futures for December delivery on the New York Mercantile Exchange was $4047.50 per ounce, up 2.73%; London spot gold was $4038.55 per ounce, up 2.65%. Silver futures for December delivery settled at $51.935 per ounce, up 4.39%; spot silver in London settled at $51.960 per ounce, up 4.40%. The previous day, the World Gold Council's latest Q3 "Global Gold Demand Trends" report showed that global central banks net bought 321 tons of gold in the quarter, a 42% year-on-year increase; global physical gold ETFs saw net inflows of 211 tons in Q3, reaching a record high, indicating that long-term investors and institutions are still increasing their holdings.
