[Eurozone Inflation Rises to 4.1% in October, Driven by Energy Price Increases] ⑴ Preliminary data from Eurostat shows that Eurozone inflation rose to 4.1% year-on-year in October, up from 3.8% in September. This increase was entirely driven by energy prices. ⑵ Energy inflation reached 21.2% year-on-year in October, the highest increase this year; since the outbreak of geopolitical conflicts at the end of February, prices for crude oil, natural gas, and residential energy have remained high. ⑶ Other sub-categories also saw slight increases: services inflation at 3.4%, food and tobacco inflation at 1.7%, and non-energy industrial goods inflation at 1.3%, all higher than the previous month. ⑷ Current overall inflation is already twice the ECB's 2% policy target. The central bank recently maintained its interest rate unchanged, predicting that prices will peak at the end of 2026, and gradually decline after energy prices fall. ⑸ Market view: Short-term energy supply disruptions will prolong the inflation decline cycle, making it difficult for the ECB to quickly cut interest rates; the possibility of further rate hikes remains.
