[Wakeup in Russian Wheat Export Outlook Pushes Up Wheat Futures, Black Sea Transport Disruptions Exacerbate Supply Concerns] (1) Wheat futures prices rose as the outlook for Russian wheat exports weakened, exacerbating market concerns about global supply; continued transport disruptions in the Black Sea region limited export shipments from this important grain-producing region. (2) Russian agricultural consultancy IKAR lowered its 2026-27 Russian wheat export forecast from 42 million tons to 39.5 million tons; as a result, the Chicago wheat futures main contract rose by 0.7% at one point, ending two consecutive days of decline. (3) The agency also lowered its total Russian grain export forecast from 52.8 million tons to 49.5 million tons. (4) Futures International stated that currently, there is limited remaining capacity in rail transport and Baltic shipping routes, while traditional shipping routes in the Black Sea region are disrupted due to the turbulent situation, leading Russian exporters to increasingly turn to rail, Baltic ports, and container transport. (5) The seasonal closure of inland waterway shipping in mid-November may put further pressure on the rail network, leading to tighter export capacity and pushing up winter logistics costs. (6) The slow pace of U.S. exports, coupled with competition from other supplying countries, has limited the potential for wheat price increases.
