Indonesia plans to roll out incentives to encourage consumers to keep US dollars domestically. Indonesia is finalizing incentives to make it more attractive for citizens to hold US dollars domestically to boost foreign exchange reserves, according to new Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa. In a statement, he explained that these incentives are intended to curb regular foreign exchange outflows by some citizens, thereby boosting foreign exchange reserves and increasing the supply of US dollars in domestic banks. He added that the plan will also support US dollar financing for strategic government projects. Market-based incentives are expected to be implemented soon.
